Before last summer got underway, Sea Newport ran a poll on instagram to determine "The Official Drink of Newport". Of all of the given options (and write-ins), the mudslide prevailed by a landslide... or mudslide? So with that, after years of testing the many adult milkshakes around town, we prepared a list of our top 8 mudslides to be put in a head-to-head tournament style bracket to let our followers determine the best mudslide in the city by the sea.
Here are the results:
8. Brick Alley Pub
A Newport staple with great traditional pub food and creative cocktails, Brick Alley Pub is located right in the heart of Downtown Newport on Upper Thames St. While low on the voted rankings, their mudslide is quite delicious and comes in a few variations: original, chocolate, strawberry, banana, or mint. You will not leave hungry or thirsty at this family friendly Newport institution!

7. Smokehouse
Looking for the best BBQ in Newport? Smokehouse on America’s Cup Avenue is serving free smells and incredible smoked meats, alongside a stellar mudslide. Served in a mason jar and topped with whipped cream, this should rank higher on the list. Grab a seat at the bar to enjoy one or two by themselves or get a table to fit it alongside the huge smoked meat sampler. You will not find a bad thing on the menu here.

6. Smugglers Waterfront Bar
Situated next to the Ann Street Pier just behind the Sailing Museum, Smugglers is serving up classic pub fair and great drinks. This mudslide is coming from an ice cream machine, making it smooth & creamy! Mixed with a perfect view of the sunset over Newport harbor, Smugglers is a force to be reckoned with. As the night goes on, this bar is known for great vibes and many bar games such as: darts, pool, jenga, and more!

5. The Lobster Bar
Out on the end of Bowens Wharf with breathtaking views of Newport harbor, The Lobster Bar is serving up fresh lobsters and delicious drinks. From the raw bar to the waterside dining, you need to give this place a try! Their mudslide is a creative combination of blended creamy booze, with a fun twist of real espresso. Topped with whipped cream and a cherry, this is one of the best mudslides in town! While there, step out onto The Harbor Walk railing to say hi to the Sea Newport crew aboard Tabasco!

4. Pour Judgement
Delicious food and a beer list as long as a Harry Potter book is what Pour Judgement on Broadway is known for, but their mudslide is not to be messed with! Creamy and delicious, this boozy shake is one of the best in town and pairs perfectly with their house fries dipped in gouda cheese sauce. We sure hope you are not lactose-intolerant for this pairing!

3. The Black Pearl
World renown for their clam chowder, The Black Pearl on Bannisters Wharf is one of the most well know establishments in Newport. This mudslide is something else, as it is poured from a slushy dispenser and floated with Kahlua. It is decadent and coffee ice cream forward. Grab a cup of chowder and a mudslide if you dare!

2. Marina Cafe & Pub
The finalist in our poll that was narrowly beat by the competition, Marina Pub on Goat Island is a true hidden gem. With amazing harbor views and stiff cocktails, this is a spot you cannot pass up. Take the Harbor Shuttle across from downtown or trek across the Causeway Bridge to find the second best mudslides in town. Their classic mudslide is phenomenal, but make sure to try their specialty peanut butter mudslide!
